🔼 2-OT Thriller. It took two additional periods, but No. 6 Virginia field hockey eventually took down No. 10 Syracuse 3-2 in double overtime on Friday.
The Hoos scored quickly, with Daniela Mendez-Trendler finding the net less than eight minutes in. Laura Janssen scored in the second period, and Adele Iacobucci tipped a Jans Croon penalty corner in to win the game in double overtime.

🔼 On The Medal Stand. Virginia women’s cross country finished third in a field of 23 teams at the highly-competitive Virginia Invitational over the weekend!
Margot Appleton led the way for the Hoos, running the 5K course in 16:21.5 to place third overall individually.
The Virginia men finished seventh as a team. Gary Martin paced the squad with a 8K time of 23:38.6 to place 13th individually.

🔼 ACC Opener Dropped. Virginia football fell just short in its ACC opener against NC State on Friday night, as the Wolfpack kicked a last-second field goal to win 24-21.

🔼 Close Late. No. 22 Virginia women’s soccer dropped a 2-0 contest on the road at Wake Forest on Sunday.
The match was scoreless until the 78th minute, when the Demon Deacons finally broke through.
The Hoos are now 5-2-3 on the season, and 0-2-1 in the ACC.
🔼 Conference Season Opens. Virginia volleyball’s trip to North Carolina to open up ACC play proved tough, as the Hoos dropped a pair of contests to North Carolina and Duke.
📰 GAME 2: Cavaliers Fall In Three Sets At Duke
🔼 Tough Road Loss. Despite a comeback effort late, Virginia men’s soccer dropped a road contest at No. 15 Notre Dame 3-1 on Friday.
The Hoos outshot the Irish 13-9 in the contest, controlled 58 percent of the overall possession, and took six corner kicks to Notre Dame’s four.
