🔼 Fun On The Field. No. 3 Virginia field hockey’s dominant start to its season continued over the weekend, picking up wins over No. 5 Maryland and American in College Park, Md. to move to 5-0.
The Hoos needed just one goal to beat the Terrapins, getting it from Suze Leemans in the 1-0 victory. There were more goals but no more breathing room against American, as the Hoos won 3-2 in overtime with goals from Mia Abello, Emma Watchilla and Dani Mendez-Trendler.

🔼 Continued Success. Virginia volleyball’s win streak stretched to five over the weekend!
After downing ETSU in four sets on Thursday, the Hoos did the same to West Virginia on Friday morning in Lynchburg before beating host Liberty in a thrilling five-set match on Friday night.
Virginia now sits at 8-1 on the year.

🔼 Bounce Back Coming. Virginia football dropped its first game of the season on Saturday, falling 27-13 to Maryland despite taking a six-point lead into halftime. Here’s the postgame coverage:

🔼 All Even. Virginia men’s soccer jumped out to a lead right away against Wake Forest on Friday, with Reese Miller scoring just six minutes into the contest, but a Demon Deacon equalizer in the 70th minute ended the match in a 1-1 draw.
Joey Batrouni recorded a season-high six saves for the Hoos, with five coming in the second half alone.

🔼 Runners Finish Runners-Up. Both the Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams ran to second-place finishes over the weekend at the Virginia Invitational at Panorama Farms.
The men were led by Justin Wachtel and Will Anthony, who finished second and third, respectively. Gillian Bushee finished in third place for the women, with Jenny Schilling right behind her in fourth.

🔼 First Serve. Seven members of Virginia women’s tennis opened up the fall schedule this weekend, playing at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Blanca Pico Navarro and Zara Larke both went 3-0 in singles matches, while Mélodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky combined to go 3-0 in doubles.

🔼 First Fall. No. 2 Virginia women’s soccer dropped its first match of the season on Sunday, falling 3-0 at home against Wake Forest.
The Hoos are back in action at home this coming weekend, hosting No. 13 Notre Dame on Saturday.
