🔼 Heartbreaker For The Hoos. Virginia football dropped its home opener to James Madison on Saturday, a close 36-35 game in front of 56,508 fans.
The weekend was full of heartfelt tributes and emotionally-charged moments, as UVA honored the lives of Lavel Davis Jr., Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry.

🔼 Undefeated Weekend. Six different Hoos scored in Virginia field hockey’s 6-1 win over William & Mary on Friday.
Mia Abello scored the lone goal of the first period for UVA. Minnie Pollock, Laura Janssen and Taryn Tkachuk each scored in the second to give the Hoos a 4-1 halftime lead, and Daniela Mendez-Trendler and Emma Watchilla scored fourth period goals to push the lead to 6-1.
Sunday’s contest against No. 14 Harvard as closer, but the same result — the Hoos picked up a 1-0 win. Janssen scored the lone goal.
🔼 Movin’ Up. Virginia men’s golf moved up to fourth place at the Texas Valero Collegiate after a 3-over 291 during the second round of the tournament Sunday.
Bryan Lee has paced the Hoos through two rounds, shooting 71 in each of his first two rounds.
The third and final round of the Texas Valero Collegiate will be played Monday.
The Hoos controlled the majority of the possession and the pace of the match, but couldn’t find the net.
Virginia is back on the pitch tomorrow at James Madison at 7 p.m.
🔼 Building Momentum. Virginia volleyball split its first two matches of the weekend at the DMV Invitational, sweeping Howard in the opener before being swept by Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
Milan Gomillion set a three-set match UVA record with her 27 digs against Coastal Carolina.
The Hoos took down UMBC on Sunday in four sets to come away with a winning record on the weekend. Abby Tadder picked up her first career double-double in the victory.
