🔼 UVA Plays Strong! In the annual UVA Strong game at Scott Stadium, Virginia football dominated from start to finish Saturday night in a 42-3 victory over the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens.
Among those in attendance were the families of the three Cavalier players killed on Nov. 13, 2022, in a shooting on Grounds: Lavel Davis Jr., Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry, who wore jersey Nos. 1, 15 and 41, respectively. The families were introduced late in the second quarter after the crowd watched a tribute to Davis, Chandler and Perry, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, on the videoboard.
Also recognized were Marlee Morgan, Mike Hollins and their families. Morgan and Hollins, a running back on the 2022 team, were wounded in the shooting.

🔼 First Glimpse! The UVA men’s basketball team played the first of its three preseason games Sunday (Sept. 27) in a setting the Cavaliers won't soon forget.
As part of The LinkU Invitational, Virginia met Vanderbilt on an outdoor court at Credit One stadium in Charleston. On a sunny afternoon, about half of the court remained in the shade for most of the game, which Vanderbilt won 82-73.

🔼 Top-10 Win! Virginia men’s soccer took an early lead against No. 6 Stanford on Friday night, fell behind in the 60th minute, and then scored two goals within two minutes late to earn a 3-2 win over the Cardinal out in California!
Brendan Lambe scored the opening goal for the Hoos, before Marco Dos Santos and Sami Oulouheu scored the equalizer and game-winner, respectively.
🔼 Qualifications Made! Virginia men’s tennis’ Keegan Rice and the Virginia women’s tennis doubles team of Katie Rolls and Martina Genis Salas are headed to the NCAA Championships after earning spots through this past week’s ITA All-American Championships!

🔼 Double Dip. Virginia volleyball split a pair of ACC matchups in its first weekend of conference play, winning in five sets at Clemson on Friday before falling to Georgia Tech in three sets in Atlanta on Sunday.

🔼 Out Front! In the team’s first road meet of the season, No. 20 Virginia women’s cross country claimed a team title over the weekend at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational hosted by Loyola Chicago!
Five Cavaliers posted top-20 results, led by Stella Kermes in 11th with a personal-best time of 19:43.39.
🔼 Tee Time! Virginia men’s golf is in Fort Worth, Texas this week to play in the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at the famed Colonial Country Club!
🔼 Tested By The Tar Heels. No. 16 Virginia women’s soccer hosted No. 1 North Carolina on Friday night at Klöckner Stadium, with the Tar Heels scoring three times in the first 12 minutes of the match to win, 3-1.
Addison Halpern scored in the 57th minute for the Hoos.
🔼 Orange Squeezed. No. 9 Virginia field hockey dropped an ACC contest to No. 11 Syracuse at Turf Field on Friday, 3-0.
The Hoos outshot the Orange 14-6 in the game, with both teams getting six shots on goal.

Rousell Announces Addition of Damin Altizer to Women’s Basketball Staff. Altizer spent seven seasons as head boys’ varsity basketball coach at St. Anne’s-Belfield School and one season on the girl’s side at Covenant. At St. Anne’s Belfield, he led the Saints to four consecutive conference championships from 2022-2025. During his time as a high school coach at St. Anne’s-Belfield and Covenant, Altizer has been named conference coach of the year on four occasions and coached 10 players that went on to play for NCAA Division I programs.
