🔼 Men’s Soccer Wins Monday. Umberto Pela knocked in a header ten minutes into the game, and No. 11 Virginia men’s soccer went on to blank American in Charlottesville yesterday evening. Virginia is now 3-1 on the season, and the Hoos will be back at it on Sept. 5 to take on Virginia Tech on the road.

🔼 1-0. The third-ranked Virginia field hockey team took down a ranked opponent over the weekend, beating No. 18 Penn State 5-1 in the season opener. Caroline Raynes and Lauren Sloan both tallied their first career goals as freshmen, while Sloan Davidson, Natalie Freeman, Suze Leemans, and Amelie Rees rounded out the scoring for the Cavs.
Next weekend, the squad will battle Ohio State and Rutgers on Sept. 5 and Sept. 7.

🔼 It’s A Sweep. The No. 6 and No. 20 Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams both brought home the win at the Spider Alumni Open over the weekend. Nicholas Bendtsen won the men’s 6k while Stella Kermes posted the win in the women’s 4k. It’s the third straight year that the Cavs have swept the meet.
Next up is the 2025 Virginia Invitational at Panorama Farms on Friday, Sept. 12.

🔼 A Promotion. Former Hoo Griff O’Ferrall earned a promotion to the Chesapeake Baysox (AA) with the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend!

🔼 Hoos In The WNBA. Former Virginia women’s basketball star Camryn Taylor inked a rest-of-season contract with the Minnesota Lynx this week. Taylor most recently played for Esperides Kallitheas in the Greek A1 Basketball League where she averaged 19.6 points and 6.7 boards per game.
Today’s Trivia Question: Griff O’Ferrall had the most career hits of any three-year player in UVA baseball history. How many times did he log a hit for the Cavs?

Welcome Home. Virginia baseball announced the hiring of Casey Scott as the program’s new Director of Operations. Scott brings his experience at USA Baseball and Florida’s Bishop Verot Catholic High School to Charlottesville. While serving as the head coach at Bishop Verot, the Vikings went 114-42 during his tenure and climbed to the ninth spot in the national rankings last season
