🔼 Getting The Bump. Certain decisions for a Division I head men’s basketball coach are difficult. Certain are not.

Tony Bennett’s decision to promote Johnny Carpenter and Isaiah Wilkins when the NCAA passed a rule allowing the addition of two assistant coaches was not difficult.

Those two promotions, along with the addition of Chase Coleman as a graduate assistant, have the Hoos firing on all cylinders this summer.

🔼 Amateur Championship. Virginia’s Amanda Sambach is in Los Angeles at Bel-Air Country Club this week, competing in the 123rd annual U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.

This is Sambach’s third time competing in the tournament. Last year she was 17th in stroke play and advanced to the round of 32 of match play.

🔼 On The Medal Stand. Virginia’s Jeffrey von der Schulenburg recently finished up competition at the World University Games, contributing a bronze medal for the Swiss in doubles competition and earning a silver in the team competition.
