Frank Quayle, who wore No. 24 for the Hoos from 1966-68, rushed for 2,695 yards and 28 touchdowns in his career while also collecting 1,145 yards and six touchdowns through the air. Quayle was named the 1968 ACC Player of the Year after leading the conference with 1,213 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 10 games, and his No. 24 jersey is now retired.
