🔼 Adversity In Action. Felicia Aiyeotan grew up in poverty in Nigeria.

With a push from her mom, she attended a basketball camp called Hope For Girls, which aims to inspire and empower impoverished girls in Africa. It did just that, and Aiyeotan earned an athletic scholarship to play at Virginia.

A medical diagnosis ended her career early, but it hasn’t stopped Aiyeotan from having a very successful career.

🔼 Bringing Home Bronze. Gable Porter, an incoming freshman on the Virginia wrestling squad, took home third place at 132 pounds in the Junior Greco-Roman division at the U.S. Marine Corps USAW Junior National Championships this past weekend.

Porter dropped his semifinal match to eventual champion Otto Black.

🔼 Soccer Supplement. Virginia women’s soccer has a new defender on the team, with quite the pedigree.

Kathryn Kelly, who spent her redshirt season at UCLA last year, will switch coasts this year and join the Cavalier program. Kelly was the No. 7 overall recruit on the IMG Top 150 coming out of high school, and has U.S. Youth National Team experience.

The Virginia rower claimed third place as part of the USA women’s four with coxswain at the 2023 World Rowing U23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria with a time of 6:51.59.

Assistant Coach With Accolades. Virginia women’s lacrosse head coach Sonia LaMonica announced the hiring of Kerrigan Miller to her staff last week.
