Hoos Brew 6/21: Never Worn Again

Today makes us think about UVA great Jim Dombrowski.

Good morning! Happy Andrew Abbott Day!

What are we serving up in today's Brew?

šŸˆ All-time great
šŸ„ New right-hand man
ā€‹āš”ļø And much, much more!

šŸ“ˆ STOCK UP

šŸ”¼ All-Time Anchor. Virginia football has retired six jersey numbers across its storied history. Jim Dombrowskiā€™s No. 73 is one of them.

Dombrowski starred on UVAā€™s offensive line from 1982-85, and became Virginiaā€™s first-ever unanimous All-American. He also won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the ACCā€™s best blocker twice, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

Dombrowski was drafted sixth overall to the New Orleans Saints in the 1986 NFL Draft, and spent 11 seasons with the Saints. He is a member of the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame.

73 more days until Virginia football!

Casseseā€™s resume is long and incredibly impressive:

šŸ„ 16 seasons as head coach at Lehigh University

šŸ„ All-time winningest coach at Lehigh, three-time Patriot League champion

šŸ„ Assistant coach at Duke from 2005-07

šŸ„ Two-time Tewaaraton Award finalist at Duke (2002-03)

šŸ”¼ Hoos In The Classroom. Six members of the Virginia womenā€™s golf team were selected for the All-ACC Academic Team yesterday, matching the most of any ACC school.

Jennifer Cleary, Megan Propeck, Amanda Sambach, Rebecca Skoler, Riley Smyth and Celeste Valinho were all recognized for their work in the classroom.

Pietro Bovari, George Duangmanee and Bryan Lee were recognized for their work in the classroom. For Bovari and Duangmanee, this is the third consecutive year they have earned the honor.

šŸ”¼ Championship Coach. Virginia menā€™s lacrosse head coach Lars Tiffany is in San Diego this week, serving as the head coach of the Haudenosaunee team at the World Lacrosse Championships.

Along with Tiffany leading the Haudenosaunee group, three former Hoos are competing in the tournament: Ryan Conrad (USA), Charlie Bertrand (USA) and Zed Williams (Haudenosaunee).
