🔼 Chase For The Cup. Virginia Athletics finished 12th with 966 points in the final Learfield Directors’ Cup competition, with big boosts from the fifth consecutive NCAA women’s swimming and diving championship and a runner-up finish for men’s golf!

🔼 And The ESPY Goes To... Virginia women’s swimmer Gretchen Walsh has been named one of four nominees for Best College Athlete — Women’s Sports for the 2025 ESPY Awards!

🔼 Top Of The Leaderboard. Virginia women’s golfer Kennedy Swedick earned a victory this week at the third-annual Women’s Open of Virginia, shooting 3-over at Farmington Country Club to win by four strokes!

🔼 Toe The Line. Virginia director of cross country Vin Lananna has announced the program’s 2025 schedule, which includes three home meets!

🔼 Welcome Aboard. Virginia women’s lacrosse head coach Sonia LaMonica has announced the addition of Shanna Brady as the team’s defensive coordinator!

Brady has served as a defensive coordinator for multiple teams, including working with LaMonica at Towson for two seasons. She spent three years working with Penn State, helping the team return to the NCAA Tournament in 2023 for the first time in five seasons. In addition to Penn State and Towson, she also worked with the defenses at Hofstra and LIU Post.

Seven Track & Field Cavaliers Earn CSC Academic All-District Accolades. Achieving Academic All-District honors for the 2025 season include Christiana Ellina and Estel Valeanu on the women’s side and Will Anthony, Will Daley, Gary Martin, Alex Sherman and Justin Wachtel on the men’s side. Three Cavaliers including Anthony, Martin and Sherman garnered their second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honors.
