Hoos Brew 5/29: Impressive Resume
Virginia baseball is right at home in the postseason.
Good morning! Danielle Collins is back in the top-10!
What else is brewing in today's Brew?
⛳️ Comeback falls short
⚾️ Happy at home
⚔️ And much, much more!
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Final Hole. Virginia men’s golf couldn’t quite complete a valiant comeback attempt in Wednesday’s match play against top-ranked Auburn, losing 3-1 to the Tigers to put an end to its season.
George Duangmanee won the lone match for the Hoos, taking a lead after the second hole and holding onto it until the end of the match.
The future is bright for Virginia, which has qualified for the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championships the past two seasons — the Hoos are set to lose just Duangmanee off this year’s roster next season.
🔼 Home is Where The Hoos Are. Jacob Ference, Joe Savino and Bobby Whalen haven’t played a postseason game at the Dish yet. At this point last year, they were at Salisbury, Elon and Indiana, respectively.
The three recently sat down together to watch highlights from last year’s sold-out games during the Charlottesville Regional to prepare themselves for this upcoming weekend.

🔼 Quite The Resume. Can we talk about Virginia baseball’s postseason resume of late? It’s extremely impressive.
The Hoos are one of only four programs to host a regional in back-to-back seasons (2023 & 2024), and have reached Omaha for the College World Series six times since 2009, tied for second-most in the country.
And this is the 18th NCAA Tournament in 21 years under head coach Brian O’Connor!
🔼 Got Our Guy. Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach Todd DeSorbo announced on Wednesday the hiring of Gary Taylor to the Cavalier coaching staff as the associate head coach!
Taylor and DeSorbo coached together at NC State before Taylor headed to Auburn, where he was the head coach from 2018 to 2021.
