🔼 Down Goes No. 1. For the 17th time in school history, Virginia men’s lacrosse took down the No. 1 team in the country, beating Notre Dame 12-8 at Klöckner Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The day belonged to sophomore goalie Matthew Nunes, who grabbed a career-high 19 saves, seven of them in the fourth quarter. Xander Dickson scored four goals and assisted on another, and Thomas McConvey gave his team a hat trick.

The Hoo wide receiver was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round with the No. 159 overall pick after leaving Virginia as the single-season receiving yards leader (1,203 yards in 2021).

Kyle Teel, Ethan Anderson and Henry Godbout all had multiple hits in the game, and Jake Gelof hit his 18th home run of the season.

Anderson led the offensive charge, ending the weekend with seven hits and four runs scored.

🔼 Mighty Milers. The Penn Relays are known for historic performances - the Virginia men’s 4xMile team decided to join the party over the weekend.

The relay team of Wes Porter, Gary Martin, Nate Mountain and Conor Murphy set a school record in the event, running 16:14.48 - the ninth-fastest collegiate performance of all-time, according to U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association.

🔼 Transfer Transfusion. Virginia men’s basketball has gained another addition from the transfer portal - 6-foot-9 forward Jake Groves is going to be a Hoo.

Groves, who spent two years at Oklahoma and two years at Eastern Washington, averaged 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds as a Sooner this past year.
