🔼  ACC CHAMPS! No. 4 seed Virginia men’s lacrosse claimed the ACC championship over the weekend, beating No. 1 seed Notre Dame in the tournament’s semifinals and No. 2 seed North Carolina on Sunday in the title game!

After falling behind 2-0 to the Tar Heels on Sunday, the Hoos scored 12 unanswered goals to take a commanding lead. The win marked UVA’s eighth overall in the ACC Tournament championship game and first since 2019.

After capturing the ACC championship, Virginia (10-6) earned the No. 5 seed and will host Georgetown (12-5) in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

🔼  Feeling Sweet! No. 5 Virginia men’s tennis is headed to the NCAA’s Sweet Sixteen after picking up wins over Rider (4-0) and Columbia (4-2) over the weekend in Charlottesville!

Virginia will square off next against No. 13 seed South Carolina in the Super Regional. The fourth-seeded Cavaliers will host the Gamecocks next weekend, on Friday, May 8.

🔼  Moving On! No. 7 seed Virginia women’s tennis beat both Saint Francis and No. 22 Washington via sweep over the weekend, punching its ticket to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen!

The Hoos will again play in Charlottesville next weekend, hosting No. 10 LSU on Saturday at 1 p.m.

🔼  It’s A Party At Palmer! The No. 23 Virginia softball team (37-12, 13-10 ACC) will be seeded sixth in the upcoming ACC Softball Championships hosted by the Cavaliers at Palmer Park!

The tournament begins on Wednesday and concludes with the championship on Saturday.

🔼  Double The Fun! No. 23 Virginia baseball played Radford in a doubleheader at the Dish on Sunday, winning both games against the Highlanders while outscoring them, 25-6!

In game one, Kyle Johnson picked up his first win in a Virginia uniform by allowing only one run on three hits in five innings of work with five strikeouts. Max Stammel picked up the win in game two with two innings of one-run ball in relief. Joe Tiroly went a combined 5-for-9 with seven RBI and three extra-base hits.

🔼  Crossed The Finish Line! Virginia track and field closed out competition at both the Larry Ellis Invitational and Hill City Twilight on Saturday, with 14 personal and season-bests falling!

🔼  Adding To The Staff! Virginia women’s basketball head coach Aaron Roussell has announced the addition of Kia Damon-Olson to his staff as an assistant coach!

Damon-Olson most recently served as head coach at Lafayette for nine seasons from 2017-2026. During her time at Lafayette, Damon-Olson developed 10 All-Patriot League selections including one Player of the Year and two Defensive Player of the Year honors. She also coached six players to all-rookie selections.

For the first time ever: Virginia Cavaliers football heads to Rio de Janeiro. And so can you! On August 29, 2026, Virginia takes on NC State Wolfpack football at Nilton Santos Stadium in the FIRST-EVER FBS college football game played in South America.

George Gelnovatch Signs Contract Extension Through 2031. Gelnovatch comes off his 30th season as Virginia’s head men’s soccer coach in which he was named ACC Coach of the Year after leading the Cavaliers to the ACC regular season title with an unbeaten 5-0-3 record in conference play. The Cavaliers reached the ACC Championship Final in 2025 and have appeared the ACC semifinal in three of the last four seasons.
