🔼 Last Race. No. 10 Virginia rowing will compete at the NCAA Championships this weekend at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

Each division (Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four) has four heats on Friday, with the top three from each heat moving on to Saturday’s A/B semifinals. The remaining boats will race in the C/D semifinals.

🔼 Under Center. UVA's football team won nine games in 1994 and again in '95, with each of those seasons capped by a bowl victory. The quarterback on those talent-laden squads was Mike Groh, who remains immersed in the sport three decades later.

Groh, 53, is heading into his fourth year as the New York Giants’ wide receivers coach and his 14th season overall as an NFL assistant. His résumé also includes stints at UVA, where he spent eight seasons as an assistant on his father's staff, and Alabama, where Groh coached under Nick Saban on three national championship teams.

“Certainly from a younger age I kind of always thought I would be a coach,” Groh said, “so to find myself sitting here 25 years later, am I shocked? No, I’m not shocked by it.”
