🔼 Gaining Momentum. A series win over No. 10 North Carolina, in which the Hoos cranked out 32 hits and 24 runs, has given No. 15 Virginia momentum as it heads into the second half of ACC play.

“We’re at the halfway point in league play,” UVA head coach Brian O’Connor said after Sunday’s game. “Certainly, you’d like to [have won] another game or two, but we’re right in contention for everything that we want to accomplish going into the back half of the ACC season.”

🔼 Weekend Winner. No. 2 Virginia men’s lacrosse took down North Carolina, 14-6, in front of a season-high 5,136 spectators at Klöckner Stadium on Saturday.

It was a fun day — the Hoos honored the 1999 national championship team at halftime to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the program’s second NCAA title, and Payton Cormier scored his 200th career goal for the Hoos!

🔼 It’s A Streak. Virginia softball turned in its third consecutive ACC series win this weekend, taking two-of-three games at Notre Dame.

The Hoos and Irish shared lopsided victories in the first two games of the series, but a 6-3 win for the visitors in Sunday’s finale sent Virginia home happy. The big hit in the contest came from Kelly Ayer, whose three-run triple in the fourth inning gave the Hoos a 5-1 lead.

🔼 How Sweep It Is. In its final home match of the season, No. 2 Virginia was just as dominant as it has been all season, beating Boston College 7-0 to move to 18-4 overall and maintain a perfect 10-0 mark in ACC play.

The Hoos close out the regular season next week with road matches at Clemson and Georgia Tech.

🔼 Finished Strong. No. 11 Virginia women’s lacrosse was locked into a tight contest at Louisville through three quarters on Saturday, but a 5-1 fourth quarter advantage for the Hoos cut out any late drama in a 13-8 win.

Mackenzie Hoeg led the Hoos with four goals, while Jenna Dinardo and Morgan Schwab both contributed four points as well.

🔼 Run And Jump. Alex Sherman highlighted Virginia track and field’s trip to the Vertklasse Meeting in High Point, N.C., setting a meet record in the men’s 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 50.93.

Sara Akpan (women’s 100m dash), Jacob Lemmon (men’s discus), Jaden Lyons (men’s 400m dash) and Gage Gose (men’s 110m hurdles) all won their individual events as well.

🔼 Split ‘Em. No. 4 Virginia women’s tennis split its two matches in North Carolina over the weekend, dropping its first ACC match of the season Friday at No. 6 North Carolina, 4-1, before bouncing back to beat No. 20 Duke, 4-3, on Sunday.

🔼 Golf At Home. No. 12 Virginia men’s golf is set to host the third annual Lewis Chitengwa Memorial today and tomorrow at Birdwood Golf Course to wrap up its regular season.

The tournament’s namesake, Lewis Chitengwa, was a two-time All-American at Virginia (1995, 1996) who passed away at the age of 26 while competing on the Canadian Tour.

🔼 Final Tune-Up. No. 23 Virginia women’s golf is at the Lonnie Pool Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. the next two days to play in NC State’s Wolfpack Match Play, the Hoos’ final tournament before the ACC Championships on April 18-21.

Virginia, the No. 2 seed, will face No. 7 seed Coastal Carolina, with the winner moving on to play the winner of No. 3 North Carolina and No. 6 Augusta.

🔼 Home Of The Masters. Virginia’s Amanda Sambach shot 4-over 76 at Augusta National during the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, finishing in a tie for 14th place to match her finish in the event last year.
