Hoos Brew 4/14: Breakfast Bombs
Today, we're keeping our eyes peeled for more home runs.
Good morning! Don’t blink, or you might miss another Jake Gelof home run. It could happen during breakfast, he could be studying for a test and go deep - we’ve come to expect the unexpected with him.
What else are we serving up in today's Brew?
🏈 Get ready for game day
⚾️ Streaks on the line
⚔️ And much, much more!
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 TOMORROW. We get to watch football tomorrow. We’ve been waiting a long time to say that. Head Coach Tony Elliott is excited, too.
UVA’s Blue-White Spring Game is free to the public, as is parking at Scott Stadium and normal football game day lots. Fans can stick around after the game and meet the team on the field, and can also show up early for Fan Fest, which will be held from 11:00am ET to 1:30pm ET in the East Parking Lot at Scott Stadium.
🔼 Stay Hot. Riding a six-game win streak in which it has outscored its opponents 64-15, Virginia baseball welcomes Pittsburgh to town this weekend for a three-game series.
Disharoon Park has been a hostile environment this year for visitors, as the Hoos currently have a school-record 24-game home streak. Pitt comes into the weekend 14-17 overall and 5-8 in the ACC.
🔼 Dueling With Duke. No. 3 Virginia men’s lacrosse gets an opportunity to avenge one of its two losses on the season, taking on Duke this weekend in Durham.
The two teams played a knock-down, drag-out fight last time out, with the Blue Devils winning 16-14. Payton Cormier scored six goals in the game, and Xander Dickson added four.
🔼 Shipping Up To Boston. Virginia women’s lacrosse takes a trip to Beantown this weekend for a game against Boston College.
The Hoos are coming off wins against VCU and Duke, and are looking to add to their momentum before Virginia Tech comes to town next week.
Boston College is 11-3 with five ranked wins already this season.
🔼 Seminole Fight. UVA softball will takes its talents to Tallahassee this weekend for a three-game series against Florida State.
The Hoos are 27-13 this season, and a series win over the Seminoles would push their conference record to at or above .500. That will be no small task, however, as FSU is currently 11-1 in ACC play and 24-1 at home.
🤔 HOOS TRIVIA
Leading The Field. Virginia women’s golfer Amanda Sambach is in the top spot at the ACC Championships after day one, posting rounds of 4-under 68 and 6-under 66 at Sedgefield Country Club.
Her 6-under 66 matches the lowest round from a UVA golfer at the ACC Championships.
Can you name the other Hoo to shoot that low?
