🔼 New Head Hoo! University of Virginia Director of Athletics Carla Williams announced yesterday the hiring of Aaron Roussell as head women’s basketball coach!

Roussell (pronounced roo-SELL), spent the last seven seasons at Richmond, leading the Spiders to a 148-72 record and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Richmond won the 2024 Atlantic-10 Tournament and captured back-to-back outright regular-season A-10 championships in 2024 and 2025.

🔼 Chang Wins Calusa Cup! Virginia men’s golf’s Paul Chang claimed medalist honors on Tuesday at the Calusa Cup, leading the Hoos to a second-place finish out of eight teams in Naples, Fla.!

Chang, Michael Lee and Bryan Lee each turned in top 10 finishes for Virginia.

🔼 Cajun Contest! No. 17 Virginia softball returns home to Palmer Park today, hosting Louisiana for a midweek non-conference game at 6 p.m.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are 22-17 overall this season but just 2-10 so far in road contests.

🔼 Midweek Setback. No. 13 Virginia baseball fell in its midweek contest to James Madison in extra innings on Tuesday, 8-7, at the Dish.

The Hoos are on the road this weekend, traveling to Indiana for a three-game series at Notre Dame.

🔼 Road Block! Virginia men’s lacrosse goalie Jake Marek has been named the ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after his fourth consecutive game recording double-digit saves!

🔼 Vaulting To The Top! Virginia track and field’s Kendric Curry has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week after winning the men’s pole vault competition at the Virginia Grand Prix!

🔼 None Better! Virginia men’s tennis player Dylan Dietrich has reclaimed his spot atop the ITA Singles Rankings!

🔼 Great Eight! Virginia women’s tennis checks in at No. 8 in this week’s ITA Rankings!

🔼 Studious Swimmers! Seven members of the Virginia Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving program were named to the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District team on Tuesday!

FROM UVA TODAY: His ‘dream job’ has a fellow UVA athlete alum as his boss. They never crossed paths at the University of Virginia, but their shared background as student-athletes made the connection immediate.

“An instant click,” Justin Grender said.

Grender, a 2022 UVA graduate and former All-America swimmer, is two years into his role as operations manager for Mezcla, a plant-based protein bar company founded by 2019 UVA graduate and former national champion lacrosse player Griffin Spolansky.
