Hoos Brew 4/21: Softball Bounces Back

Softball took the last two games of its series against Louisville over the weekend!

🔼 One Left. Virginia men’s lacrosse earned a 13-8 win over Lafayette on Senior Day at Klöckner Stadium on Saturday, its penultimate game of the regular season.

Eight Hoos found the back of the net, including attackmen McCabe Millon and Truitt Sunderland, both of whom finished with three goals and one assist.

🔼 Bounced Back. After dropping Game 1 of its three-game set against Louisville in nine innings on Thursday, No. 25 Virginia softball bounced back to win the final two games against the Cardinals and clinch its fourth conference series of the season.

The Hoos won 8-2 on Friday and 6-0 on Saturday thanks to a two-hit shutout from Eden Bigham.

🔼 One Short. No. 6 Virginia men’s tennis made a four-match run at the ACC Championships over the weekend, winning its way all the way to the title match against No. 8 Stanford on Sunday, where the Cardinal claimed a 4-2 win over the Hoos.

Virginia won the doubles point against Stanford, and received a singles win from Dylan Dietrich.

🔼 Championship Run. No. 7 Virginia women’s tennis fell in the title match of the ACC Championships on Sunday to No. 8 North Carolina, 4-0.

The Hoos earned wins earlier in the weekend against No. 20 Cal and No. 4 Duke to find its way to championship Sunday.

🔼 Home Track. Virginia track and field hosted the Virginia Challenge over the weekend at Lannigan Field, collected seven event wins on Friday before honoring the program’s 30 seniors on Saturday.

Eric Becker Included On Brooks Wallace Award Watch List. The award honors the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.
