🔼 Next Phase Coming. Virginia football completed its spring practices, with head coach Tony Elliott pleased with the team’s progress and depth. Despite losing key players, the Cavaliers added a strong transfer class and returning players are stepping into prominent roles. The team will continue to build on its progress with player-led and coach-led practices before fall camp.

🔼 Building A Staff. Virginia women’s basketball coach Aaron Roussell announced new staff additions. Darren Guensch and Ariel Stephenson, both former Richmond assistants, join as assistant coaches. Alex Louin, also from Richmond, will serve as assistant coach and director of operations, while AJ Wahl will be the director of video and analytics.

🔼 Played For A Title. No. 7 Virginia women’s tennis fell to No. 13 NC State 4-0 in the ACC Championship game. The Hoos defeated Stanford and No. 18 Duke to get to the title game.

🔼 Made A Run. Virginia men’s tennis defeated Cal and Notre Dame to reach the ACC Championship final over the weekend. They eventually fell to Wake Forest in the championship game.

🔼 Series Secured. No. 9 Virginia baseball downed Clemson 5-4 on Saturday to win the series! Harrison Didawick hit two home runs, including one off the first pitch of the game to set the tone.

🔼 Not Our Weekend. No. 18 Virginia softball dropped three games at Clemson over the weekend. The Cavaliers will play James Madison at Palmer Park tomorrow. at 5 p.m.

🔼 Record Weekend. Virginia track & field competed at the 2026 Virginia Challenge over the weekend. Nathan Mountain broke the school, meet, and facility record in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase. Ariel Fletcher and Janae Profit recorded program top 10 marks in the women’s 400-meters and discus.

🔼 Claimed Victory. No. 8 Virginia’s Second Varsity Eight won at the Eisenberg Cup, defeating nationally ranked teams. The Cavaliers also placed second in the Varsity Four and Third Varsity Eight races.

🔼 All-American Honors. Virginia squash teams earned a handful of CSA All-American honors! Juan Irisarri, JP Tew, and Juan Jose Torres Lara earned honors on the men’s side. Tew was joined by Patrick Keller and Krishna Mishra as they earned CSA Scholar Athlete Awards. Charlotte Paster and Lina Tammam earned All-American honor on the women’s team. Tammam earned CSA Scholar Athlete Award honors alongside Clare Minnis and Nina Hashmi.

On August 29, 2026, Virginia and NC State will take the field at Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio de Janeiro for College Football Brasil, the first-ever FBS college football game played in South America.
