🔼 New Playmakers. For the UVA football team, spring practice concluded with the annual Blue-White game Saturday afternoon at Scott Stadium.
The game gave fans an opportunity to check out the Wahoos' new quarterbacks—transfers Chandler Morris and Daniel Kaelin—as well as several inexperienced players who are likely be in key roles this season.
That group includes defensive end Billy Koudelka, tight end John Rogers and wide receiver Josiah Abdullah, a true freshman who enrolled at the University in January.
Virginia opens the season Aug. 30 against Coastal Carolina at Scott Stadium.

🔼 Point Taken. No. 6 Virginia men’s tennis closed out its regular season with a 5-2 win over Virginia Tech on Friday, securing another point for the Hoos in the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash.
With the victory, Virginia finishes the regular season with a 17-6 record and a 9-4 mark in conference play, and enters the postseason on a six-match win streak. The Hoos will begin action at the ACC Tournament as the No. 5 seed on Thursday.

🔼 Home Run Queen. Virginia softball finished up a sweep of Syracuse at Palmer Park on Sunday, and made some history at the same time — Jade Hylton went deep in her first at-bat, setting the all-time program record for home runs with 37 in her career.
The Hoos made history in the circle against Syracuse as well, no-hitting the Orange in each game of the Saturday doubleheader. Julia Cuozzo, Eden Bigham, Courtney Layne and Ava Hodges all contributed.

🔼 Series Win. Virginia baseball earned its third ACC series win over the weekend, taking two-of-three games at home against Pitt.
The Hoos left no doubt in Sunday’s rubber match, winning 18-0 in seven innings. Chris Arroyo homered and drove in six runs, and Jacob Ference and Harrison Didawick joined him with round-trippers.

🔼 Run, Jump, Throw. Virginia track and field experienced more success over the weekend — Jeremiah Nubbe and Estel Valeanu swept the men’s and women’s discus at the Duke Invitational on Friday, and Ethan Robinson claimed the men’s decathlon title at the Carl Kight Invitational.
On Saturday in Durham, Alex Sherman picked up a win in the men’s 400m hurdles.

🔼 Irish Goodbye. Virginia men’s lacrosse gave up a 7-0 run in the second half to No. 9 Notre Dame on Saturday, and the Irish pulled away with a 12-7 win in South Bend, Ind.
Thomas Mencke was the only Hoo to find the back of the net at least twice, which he did in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter. Virginia goaltender Matthew Nunes stopped nine Irish shots on net.

🔼 One More. No. 11 Virginia women’s lacrosse fell on the road to No. 2 Boston College on Saturday, 24-11.
Kate Galica led the Hoos with three goals and an assist, while Livy LaVerghetta scored her first career goal. Virginia has one game left in the regular season, a Smithfield Commonwealth Clash matchup at home against Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
