🔼 Got Our Guy. Virginia athletics director Carla Williams announced Saturday the hiring of Ryan Odom as the University of Virginia’s Dean and Markel Families Men’s Head Basketball Coach. Odom becomes the 13th head coach in the program’s history!

Odom spent the last two seasons at VCU, leading the Rams to a 52-21 record and an appearance in the 2025 NCAA Championships. VCU won the 2025 Atlantic-10 Tournament and shared the A-10 regular-season championship.

🔼 NATIONAL CHAMPS! For the fifth consecutive season, Virginia women’s swimming has won the team title at the NCAA Championships!

Virginia becomes just the third program to win five consecutive NCAA team titles in the sport and the first since 1996, joining Stanford (1992-96) and Texas (1984-88).

A total of five Hoos won gold at the event, including Gretchen Walsh with seven wins and Claire Curzan with five. With a win in the 100 Breast, Alex Walsh became just the second swimmer in NCAA history with individual titles in five different events.

🔼 West Coast Visitors. No. 23 Virginia softball picked up another ACC series win over the weekend, beating Cal in a pair of one-run games on Friday and Saturday before falling on Sunday.

MC Eaton hit a grand slam in Game 1 and the Hoos won on a walk-off in front of a record crowd of 1,981 on Saturday to highlight the weekend.

🔼 March Matness. Virginia wrestling had its season come to an end on Day Two of the NCAA Championships over the weekend, with three wrestlers in competition.

Nick Hamilton won two bouts on Friday, and ended one win shy of All-America honors.

🔼 Pounced On Pitt. No. 12 Virginia women’s lacrosse picked up its seventh win of the season on Saturday, taking down Pitt, 16-12.

Madison Alaimo was fantastic for the Hoos with a career-high nine points on three goals and six assists. Jenna DiNardo and Addi Foster each recorded hat tricks as well.

🔼 Win Column. Virginia men’s lacrosse beat Utah on Saturday at Klöckner Stadium, 14-9.

Three Hoos collected hat tricks in the win — Truitt Sunderland, Ryan Colsey and Griffin Schutz. Matthew Nunes had 11 saves in the win and is now No. 2 on the all-time saves list at Virginia with 602.

🔼 Playing Host. Both Virginia men’s and women’s tennis split matchups with Cal and Stanford this past weekend.

The No. 2 women’s team fell 4-1 to Cal before sweeping Stanford on Sunday, while the No. 6 men fell 4-3 to No. 14 Cal before beating No. 8 Stanford, 4-2.

🔼 The Great Outdoors. Virginia track and field began its outdoor campaign at the Virginia Opener on Saturday, with the Virginia women winning 16 of 18 events and the men winning nine.

🔼 Downed By Duke. No. 23 Virginia baseball had a tough weekend at home against Duke, losing in three straight games to the Blue Devils while being outscored 35-13.

Vin Lananna Named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Men’s Coach of the Year. Lananna, in his sixth year as Director of Track and Field and Cross Country/Associate Athletics Director at Virginia, led the Cavaliers to a sixth-place team finish at the 2025 NCAA DI Indoor Championships, the best finish on the men’s side in program history.
