🔼 Play Ball! No. 2 Virginia baseball opens the 2025 season today in Ponce, Puerto Rico, playing the first game of the Puerto Rico Challenge against Michigan at 1 p.m.

The Hoos will also have a Saturday matchup against Villanova and a Sunday game against Rice in Ponce.

🔼 Road Clash. Winners of two straight and three of its last four, Virginia men’s basketball heads to Blacksburg tomorrow for a 2 p.m. tipoff against Virginia Tech in the second Smithfield Commonwealth Clash meeting of the season between the rival programs.

🔼 Ranked Dub. Virginia softball picked up its first ranked win of the season on Thursday, beating No. 23 Kentucky in its first game of the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational, 4-1.

Sarah Coon tripled twice and scored twice, Macee Eaton and Reece Holbrook both drove in runs for the Hoos, while Courtney Layne, Savanah Henley and Eden Bigham combined to keep the Wildcats quiet at the plate.

🔼 True Test. No. 4 Virginia men’s lacrosse has its first ranked matchup of the season tomorrow, hosting No. 20 Richmond at 11:30 a.m. at Klöckner Stadium.

The Spiders are 1-1 so far, with a season-opening loss at No. 5 Maryland and a win over Robert Morris last Saturday.

🔼 Top-20 Matchup. No. 8 Virginia women’s lacrosse plays its road opener this weekend, traveling to New Jersey to play at No. 17 Princeton tomorrow at noon.

Tomorrow will serve as the Tigers’ season opener.

🔼 Steel City. Virginia women’s hoops is on the road this Sunday, traveling to Pittsburgh to tip off against the Panthers at 2 p.m. on the ACC Network.

🔼 Tune In. In his third year on head coach Tony Elliott's staff at Virginia, Terry Heffernan oversees an offensive line that since the end of last season has added four transfers who have 101 college starts among them.

🔼 Texas Tennis. No. 5 Virginia men’s tennis is in Dallas this weekend, competing at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

First up for the Hoos is a matchup with No. 20 Michigan today at 10 a.m. With a win, Virginia would take on the winner of a Texas A&M-Texas matchup.

🔼 Split Squad. Virginia track and field will be split between four meets this weekend — the David Hemery Valentine and Eagle Elite Invitationals in Boston, the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and the Darius Dixon Invitational in Lynchburg.

🔼 Tar Heel Takedown. Virginia wrestling hits the road today, taking on North Carolina in Chapel Hill at 7 p.m.

The Tar Heels are 7-5 this season, and have won three of four matches in ACC play so far.
