🔼 Bragging Right Secured. A low-scoring first half turned into an up-and-down second half in Virginia men’s basketball rivalry game with Virginia Tech on Wednesday night — the Hoos won both halves, and took the game, 65-57!
Reece Beekman and Jordan Minor both scored 16 points for Virginia, and Beekman added four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
The win gives Virginia a 5.5-1.0 lead over Virginia Tech in the Commonwealth Clash standings.

The Hoos are coming off a dominant opening weekend, picking up a pair of wins against Liberty and James Madison, while the Longhorns picked up a pair of 7-0 wins over Lamar and Abilene Christian.
🔼 Tough Stretch Continues. Virginia women’s basketball plays a ranked opponent for the third game in a row today with No. 19 Notre Dame in town for a 7 p.m. tip at JPJ.
The Irish are 12-3 on the season, winning their last two games over Boston College and Miami by a combined 61 points.
🔼 Let’s Get Started. The No. 12 Virginia women’s tennis team gets its season underway at home today against Richmond and James Madison, beginning at noon.
Today is the start of a busy weekend for the Hoos, who will also welcome in Marshall and Longwood for Saturday duals.
🔼 Preseason Praise. A whopping six members of the Virginia men’s lacrosse team were named USA Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans on Wednesday!
Connor Shellenberger leads the way as a first team member, followed by Cole Kastner (second team), Payton Cormier (third team), Griffin Schutz (third team), Noah Chizmar (honorable mention) and Chase Yager (honorable mention).
And on the women’s side, Virginia attacker Morgan Schwab was named a preseason honorable mention All-American!
🔼 Headed To Paris. Virginia rower Sky Dahl is headed to the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games!
Dahl will be a member of the United States’ PR3 mixed four with coxswain, which was chosen through a selection camp process.
