🔼 NATIONAL CHAMPS! The Virginia women’s tennis duo of Elaine Chervinsky and Melodie Collard finished their fall season on top, winning the 2024-25 NCAA Doubles Championship on Sunday in Waco, Texas!

Chervinsky and Collard defeated UCLA’s all-freshman team of Olivia Center and Kate Fakih 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the final to win the first NCAA Doubles title in program history.

🔼 Road Continues. Virginia men’s soccer is headed to the third round of the NCAA Tournament!

The Hoos erased an early 1-0 deficit to West Virginia on Sunday, receiving goals from Albin Gashi and AJ Smith to extend their season at least another week.

🔼 Fast-Paced. Virginia cross country closed out its season at the NCAA Championships over the weekend, earning a pair of All-American honors in Madison, Wis.

The Virginia women finished 14th overall and were led by Margot Appleton, who put together an All-American performance at 18th individually. The men finished 21st, with Gary Martin earning All-American status thanks to a 13th-place finish.

🔼 Let Them Cook. Virginia women’s basketball scored five seconds into its game against Bethune-Cookman on Sunday and never looked back, winning 82-48 to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Olivia McGhee led the way with 20 points, while Breona Hurd (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Taylor Lauterbach (10 points, 10 rebounds) each collected double-doubles.

🔼 Home Finale. Virginia football fell in its final home game of the 2024 season on Saturday to No. 13 SMU, 33-7.

The Hoos will have one more opportunity in a trip to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech to earn bowl-eligibility.

🔼 Bahama Ball. Virginia men’s basketball fell in its second matchup at the Baha Mar Hoops Championship on Friday night, 80-55, to No. 22 St. John’s.

The Hoos had three players score in double figures — Elijah Saunders (12), Andrew Rohde (11) and Isaac McKneely (10).

🔼 PK Ending. Virginia women’s soccer’s season came to an end in Irvine, Calif. on Friday, falling in penalty kicks to Wisconsin in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The teams played to a scoreless draw for 110 minutes before the Badgers advanced 4-2 in PKs.

🔼 One Up, One Down. Virginia volleyball split its pair of matches over the weekend, falling in four sets to No. 3 Louisville on Friday night, before bouncing back to sweep Notre Dame on Sunday.

With the victory over the Irish, the Cavaliers will finish with a winning record in ACC play for the first time since 2014. UVA’s 21 overall wins are the most in a campaign since collecting 23 victories during the 2006 season.

🔼 Mat Time. Virginia wrestling welcomed No. 8 Michigan to Grounds on Sunday, earning three Individual wins but falling as a team, 29-12.

Jack Gioffre earned a tech fall at 149 pounds, Keyveon Roller earned a major decision at 125 pounds and Gabe Christenson won 4-1 at heavyweight.

Virginia Swimmers Win Five Golden Goggles Awards From USA Swimming. Senior Gretchen Walsh won two awards – the Breakout Award and the Relay Performance of the Year with the gold-medal and world record 4×100 Medley relay squad. Two more Cavaliers, Kate Douglass and Emma Weber, were acknowledged as prelim swimmers for that relay.
