🔼 Kickoff From Death Valley. The ACC has announced that Virginia football’s Oct. 19 game at Clemson will kick off at noon on the ACC Network!

🔼 Scoop And Score. The ACC announced Monday that Virginia safety Jonas Sanker has won the first Defensive Back of the Week honor of his career!

Sanker collected six tackles on Saturday against Boston College, including four solo tackles, and returned a fumble recover 40 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

🔼 Put Your Dukes Up. Virginia men’s soccer goes outside of ACC play today, welcoming No. 10 James Madison to Klöckner Stadium at 7 p.m.

The Dukes are 5-0-4 on the season, and played No. 5 Marshall to a 2-2 draw in their last match.

🔼 Throwing It Back. After a weekend in which they swept two formidable ACC opponents—then-No. 16 Florida State on Friday night and Miami on Sunday afternoon—this year’s Hoos are 13-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. They received 10 votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll released Monday.

“I think this weekend was a huge stepping stone for our team,” head coach Shannon Wells said after UVA secured wins over FSU and Miami in the same season for the first time since 2010.

🔼 Tour Certified. Former Virginia men’s golfer Danny Walker (2015-17) is officially headed to the PGA Tour in 2025 after finishing 28th on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour point list!

Walker is one of four Cavaliers with PGA Tour status, joining former teammates Denny McCarthy, Jimmy Stanger and Ben Kohles.

🔼 In The Hunt. No. 3 Virginia men’s golf sits in fourth place after Day 1 at the Hamptons Intercollegiate at The Maidstone Club, with play suspended for darkness before players finished their second rounds.

Paul Chang has led the way for the Hoos so far, shooting 1-under in the 35 holes he finished yesterday.

Never-Say-Die Cavaliers Building Momentum. One hundred and seventy media members cast ballots for the ACC preseason football poll, and collectively they picked Virginia to finish 16th out of the league’s 17 teams.

Five games into its third season under head coach Tony Elliott, UVA is 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. The Cavaliers aren’t worried, though, about proving prognosticators wrong. They’re focused on proving that their self-belief was justified.
