🔼 Hurricane Season. Virginia men’s basketball is in south Florida today, playing at Miami at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
The Hurricanes are 4-16 on the season and are in search of their first ACC win this season at 0-9 in conference play.
🔼 Preseason Hype. Virginia men’s lacrosse standouts Griffin Schutz and John Schroter have been named Preseason All-ACC, the conference announced on Tuesday!
Additionally, the Cavaliers were predicted to finish third in the ACC behind Notre Dame and Syracuse, respectively. Duke was projected to finish fourth in the league standings, while North Carolina was voted fifth.

🔼 Repping The Red, White & Blue. A pair of Hoos have made the 37-player USA Field Hockey Senior Women’s National Team — congratulations to senior Jans Croon and sophomore Mia Abello!

🔼 Staff Addition. Virginia volleyball head coach Shannon Wells has announced the addition of Jake Hong to the Hoos’ coaching staff!
Hong comes to Virginia after spending the last five seasons at Wake Forest.

🔼 Super Swimmer. Virginia women’s swimming’s Gretchen Walsh has been named ACC Swimmer of the Week after her dominating performance in Austin, Texas last weekend, where she won three events and posted the top time in the NCAA in both the 100 Fly and 100 Free.

🔼 Jump, Jump, Jump. In just the second meet of his collegiate career, Virginia track and field’s Caleb Holman is already winning awards — the triple jumper is the ACC Men’s Freshman of the Week!

Smithfield, the official sponsor of the Commonwealth Clash, in partnership with Harris Teeter, is challenging all basketball game attendees to bring in nonperishable food items for donation to the University of Virginia’s Community Food Pantry.
