🔼 Sweet Sweep. No. 9 Virginia women’s tennis successfully started its spring season on Wednesday, sweeping Duquesne in both ends of a doubleheader at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

🔼 Rivalry On The Road. Virginia women’s basketball travels to Blacksburg today for a Smithfield Commonwealth Clash tipoff at Virginia Tech at 6 p.m.

The Hoos won the most recent matchup against the Hokies in the final game of the 2023-24 regular season, an 80-75 triumph with Virginia Tech ranked No. 5 in the country at the time. This season’s Hokies are 12-4 and carry a three-game win streak into Thursday’s rivalry game.

🔼 Close Call. Virginia men’s basketball fell in a heartbreaker on Wednesday night, 54-52, to SMU at John Paul Jones Arena.

Blake Buchanan led the Hoos with 11 points and 15 rebounds, and Ishan Sharma joined him in double figures with 10 points.

🔼 ACC vs. SEC. No. 5 Virginia men’s tennis begins its spring season on the road today, traveling for a top-15 matchup at No. 15 South Carolina.

🔼 Putting It All Together. Virginia wrestling’s Dylan Cedeno picked up multiple big wins during his redshirt freshman season back in 2022, including a 5-0 win over national runner-up Kizhan Clarke of North Carolina. Then, injuries derailed much of his next two seasons.

Now, he’s healthy and enjoying much of the same success he had three seasons ago.

Virginia To Honor Tony Bennett On Feb. 8. Bennett will be honored at the UVA men’s basketball home game against Georgia Tech with tipoff slated for 5:30 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena. UVA will recognize Bennett with tributes throughout the game and raise a banner in JPJ during a special ceremony at halftime. Each fan in attendance will receive a commemorative replica banner.
