🔼 Transfer Tales. Today, we’ve got a little behind-the-scenes on one of the newest members of Virginia football! Get to know Tayvonn Kyle—a fifth-year defensive back transfer from Iowa State who is looking to contribute to the Cavaliers secondary. He finished his career at Iowa State with 76 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and one interception. He picked up two honorable mention All-Big 12 honors during his time in the conference. (Our favorite nugget from the interview? Off the field, he’s a barber!)

🔼 Going For Seconds. We’ve got two more going to The Show! Cavalier juniors Connelly Early and Ethan O’Donnell were both selected on Day 2 of the 2023 MLB Draft. Early, a left-handed pitcher was picked by the Boston Red Sox in the fifth round (151st overall) while O’Donnell was a sixth round (168th overall) choice of the Cincinnati Reds.

🔼 Best Of Both Worlds. The national champion men’s tennis team got some big recognition yesterday, they were named the 2023 ITA All-Academic Team, posting a GPA of 3.20 or higher. This isn’t too much of a surprise though, the Hoos have earned this award for nine years in a row. Additionally, four players were named ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athletes in Chris Rodesch, Ty Switzer, Jeffrey von der Schulenburg, and Douglas Yaffa.

🔼 Count Them In. The women’s tennis team also excelled in the classroom. Eight players were named 2023 ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athletes in Julia Adams, Mélodie Collard, Nicole Kiefer, Meggie Navarro, Hibah Shaikh, Natasha Subhash, Annabelle Xu, and Sara Ziodato. They also received the All-Academic Team award!

🤔 HOOS TRIVIA

Brotherly love. The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Jake Gelof with the 60th overall pick in this year’s MLB Draft. The number 60 seems to run in the family—his brother Zack was also taken 60th in the 2021 MLB Draft.

Our question today…

Do you know what MLB team drafted him?
